The Winter Olympics!

I love the Olympics! I think I really like the summer Olympics better, but I truly enjoy both summer and winter. My favorite winter events are probably the speed skating events. I’m not nearly as crazy about the figure skating as everyone else seems to be. I love the bobsled and luge and the skiing events. I was saddened to read about the young luger from the former Soviet Republic of Georgia who died today when he lost control of his luge sled and went off the track, hitting an unpadded steel pole. I cannot even imagine how the athletes must feel. How his fellow countrymen and women must feel, his poor family and friends. God bless them all. There won’t be a day that goes by during these two weeks of Olympics that I don’t think of Nodar Kumaritashvili and the sacrifice he made, as I watch and enjoy these games. I hope you will remember him too.
