You may have noticed recently that I am fairly newly in love with mail art. I’ve always expressed myself in some form of art. I was about 6 when my momma taught me to embroider. I think I was bored and pestering her when she decided to teach me. I may have only been about 11 or 12 when I taught myself how to decopauge. I learned counted cross stitch when I was about 20. I started quilting almost 20 years ago. I picked up other things along the way — a little painting, beading, photography and knitting to name a few. I write and dabble in poetry sometimes. I play with a lot of things, but I can’t say I’m a master of any of them.
All that being said, I love mail art, it makes something in me jump up and down for joy! I like sketching little things that show I can’t really draw. I like doing a collage and I love using rubber stamps! I love seeing all of these things on envelopes that arrive in my own mailbox too — and I get a letter too! I love pretty things, funny things and weird things. If you happen to like any of these things too, you might be interested in some of the rubber stamps sites I’ve come across lately.
- Leavenworth Jackson Rubber Stamps (I just placed my 2nd order with them)
- Stamp Francisco
- Bizzaro Rubber Stamps
I also plan to try to carve my own rubber stamps soon. I’ll be sure to let you know how that goes and show you photos when I do.
