I never did finish up the backlog of postcards before stopping for a while and letting them stack up again. Here are a few from the backlog and a couple of newly received cards.
The first one is from Irina in Moscow, Russia. It’s dated August 3, 2012. So, you can see, it’s from the backlog. She says that she has recently visited her daughter and they went to the Exhibition of Birds. This card shows a magpie that can only be found in the far east, at the other end of her country. I looked up her profile and she states on it that the Russian post office is slow to deliver international mail. I got a tickle out of that! When she gets a postcard, her favorites to get an unusual shaped cards, map cards and holiday cards. She also likes single view cards showing the town or country you live in. She doesn’t like self made cards. That always makes me sad to read, but it is her choice. She put lovely stamps on the card, but I can’t find the photo of them. Sorry about that.
The second card is also from the backlog. It’s dated August 17, 2012 and is from Oswald in Taiwan. I wish I had written and asked him about something he said on his card. It says “Hello, today is the beginning of the “ghost” month in Chinese Calendar. However, it’s different from Halloween. It ghost month, we can’t do many things like move, marry and give birth to a baby.”. I’m very curious as to how they prevent the giving birth to a baby during August.
The third backlog postcard for today is from Sami in Finland. The card is dated July 31, 2012 and is written in Finish and again in English. Sami was seven at the time and his big sister helped him write the card! Way to go, big sister! He says the swan is the national bird of Finland. He hopes I like it, (I did!) and he has two dogs. One was a seven month old puppy at the time and the other one was ten years old. Looking at his postcrossing profile, he has had a birthday since he mailed this, so he’s eight now. He is still active in postcrossing. It also says he has three leopard geckos and a lot of fishes in the aquarium. He likes animals.
That’s it for today. More tomorrow.
